Metro Arts students win prizes in two categories at the Arizona State Fair Metro Arts students won 1st prize in yearbook layout and 3rd prize for the cover design for the 2016-2017 school yearbook. Metro Arts Teachers Choice Halloween Awards 2017 Another amazing display of Halloween creativity. This year we awarded special prizes for "Best Makeup" and for "Best Hand Crafted Costume" as voted on by the entire staff.
Metro Arts Senior Sofia Taglienti won a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for her film! Congrats to Sofia Taglienti who won a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award in the category of high school student-Long form non-fiction for her entry titled: A Heart for Teaching.
Metro Arts celebrates International Day of Peace! To celebrate Peace Day students wore custom printed t-shirts with a dove and an olive branch and the words "Make art not war". In the visual arts classrooms students and staff participated in face painting, tie dying, butterfly making and of course incredible Coffee House performances. What an amazing group of beautiful and talented students.
Middle School visit to the Arizona Science Center In September the Middle School students spent the entire day at the Arizona Science Center. They visited the planetarium, completed a project in the CREATE area, and toured the current exhibits.
Getting ready for the upcoming International Day of Peace! Metro Arts has printed 200 white t-shirts with a dove and olive branch motif, in honor of Peace Day. Thanks to Seth Kasselman and his students for printing all of these shirts in his visual arts classes. Thank you also to photography teacher Stephanie Carrico who taught students the cyanotype process in order to create unique butterflies which will be used as part of the Peace Day activities at Metro.
