Metro Arts Senior Veronica Fedri nominated for 2019 Mayor's Arts Award Veronica Fedri is a finalist for the Mayor's Arts Award in the category of Young Artist. During her time at Metro Arts, Veronica has excelled in both academics and the arts, studying film, photo, drawing, and painting.
Metro Arts Student Showcases work at the Capital. 2019 Metro Arts graduate Mariana Torres had the opportunity to meet senator Tony Navarrete and show her work. Some of Mariana’s work will be showcased at the State Capital. Congratulation’s Mariana!
All-Female cast of Antigone to perform at Metro Arts. Presented by Now & Then theater company Antigone runs from May 3-19 at Now & Then Creative Company, performing in the theatre at Metropolitan Arts Institute (1700 N. 7th Ave.). Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $20 and are available online at https://www.nowandthencc.com/upcoming. Students may purchase $10 tickets at the door.
Mara Blakslee was awarded ASU Alumni Association Medallion Scholarship and selected to participate in the Leadership Scholarship Program. Mara was awarded the $3,600 renewable annual ASU Medallion Scholarship which is one of the most competitive scholarships awarded by ASU. She was also nominated by Metro Arts for the Leadership Scholarship Program (LSP), and was one of only 25 students selected for this program which includes a four-year full ride scholarship.
Congrats to Metro Senior KK Starrs. Her film "A Woman's Touch" was selected for the 2019 Arizona Student Film Festival. KK’s film — A WOMAN’S TOUCH — was developed in Metro's Advanced Film Class during a genre study in comedy. The film was screened this past weekend at the festival and everyone can enjoy the hilarious film through the link to Metro Film Department’s Vimeo Channel. Monet Almaraz has been awarded the US Figure Skating Silver level Graduating Seniors Award. Congratulations to Monet Alvaraz on her award. The U.S. Figure Skating Graduating Seniors Award recognizes the hard work of student athletes who have participated in figure skating throughout high school; awards are given at the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze level based off a skater’s level of competitive achievement in high school. Selection for this award speaks to a skater’s continued commitment to succeeding in their athletic and academic endeavors.
