Congratulations Sofia Taglienti! Winner in C-SPAN documentary contest!

Sofia is a junior at Metropolitan Arts Institute and was one of the second-prize high school west division winners for C-SPAN Classroom’s StudentCam documentary contest. Sofia’s film "A Heart for Teaching" was one of 3,000 films submitted to this year’s contest. Sofia’s documentary was a response to the 2017 theme: “Your Message to Washington: What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017.

C-SPAN Classroom’s StudentCam video documentary contest is an annual national competition in which middle and high school students produce a documentary on a specific theme. The 2017 theme was: “Your Message To Washington: What is most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017?”

Last year, Sofia was part of the duo that creating the 1st prize winning documentary.

Rethinking Reform: Prisons in America  was the first-prize high school west division winner in C-SPAN Classroom’s StudentCam documentary contest for 2016. The video was produced by Daniela Mock-Zubia and Sofia Taglienti. Both are students at Metropolitan Arts Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where Ms. Mock-Zubia is a twelfth grader and Ms. Taglienti a tenth grader.
